Fatal Crash In Concordia Parish

On March 29, 2013, at 3:25 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a two vehicle crash on US Highway 84 west of Louisiana Highway 15.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Toyota Avalon, driven by 67-year-old Leedell White of Ferriday, was traveling west on US Highway 84 when it started to turn left onto Levens Addition Road and was struck by a 2011 GMC Sierra, driven by 29-year-old Frederick Fudickar of Delhi. The GMC was traveling west on US Highway 84 behind the Toyota and was attempting to pass an uninvolved vehicle and the Toyota in a no passing zone.

White suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Riverland Medical Center where he died. Fudickar was properly restrained and did not report any injuries.

Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were taken and will be submitted for analysis. Fudickar was cited with passing in a no passing zone. The crash remains under investigation.

Inattentive and distracted driving are leading causes of crashes in our state. Motorists should always pay attention to other traffic and drive with care. More information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distraction.gov.
