March 13, 2012
Oakdale Man Killed In Vernon Parish Crash Early this morning, a crash involving two vehicles killed a young man from Oakdale, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 6:20 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 10 west of Pitkin, LA. The crash involved a 2000 Ford Explorer, driven by Kord Lee Harrelson (W/M 21 yrs) and a 2006 Kenworth (18 wheeler), driven by Talmadge K. Sigler (W/M 48 yrs) of Hornbeck, LA. The Ford was west bound on LA Hwy 10 when Harrelson crossed the centerline and collided with the east bound Kenworth.
Harrelson was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sigler received minor injuries and was transported to Oakdale Medical Center.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E troopers have investigated fifteen fatal crashes for the year of 2012, resulting in seventeen fatalities.
