Yesterday afternoon, a single vehicle crash seriously injured a woman from Alexandria, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:40 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 457 in Rapides Parish. The crash involved a 1996 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Sherry A. Elias (W/F 44 yrs). The Chevrolet was north bound on LA Hwy 457 when Elias lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning.

Elias was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
