Avoyelles Parish Serious Injury Crash Late last night, a single vehicle crash involving a horse seriously injured a woman from Hessmer, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 115 north of Hessmer. The crash involved a 1997 Buick, driven by Laura E. Coco (W/F 70 yrs) and a horse. The Buick was south bound on LA Hwy 115 when a horse entered the roadway causing the Buick to collide with it. After the collision, the horse impacted the hood, windshield, and the roof before the Buick exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a utility pole and overturned.
Coco was wearing her seatbelt, but was seriously injured. She was transported to Avoyelles Hospital.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
