Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a teen from Olla, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 9:00 am, which occurred on Wilburn Road near LA Hwy 127. The crash involved a 1993 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Madison Breann Shelton (W/F 16 yrs). The Chevrolet was west bound on Wilburn Road when Shelton lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle began overturning.

Shelton was not wearing her seatbelt and was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated seventeen fatal crashes for the year of 2012, resulting in nineteen fatalities.
