Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a young woman from Monterey, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:10 a.m., which occurred on LA Hwy 129 south of LA Hwy 907. The crash involved a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by Danielle N. Palmer (W/F 19 yrs). The Nissan was south bound on LA Hwy 129 when Palmer lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree and became engulfed in flames.

Palmer was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 41 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 46 fatalities.
