Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a woman from Anacoco, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 10:15 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 117 south of LA Hwy 6. The crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet SUV, driven by Ruby N. Murray (W/F 75 yrs). The Chevrolet was south bound on LA Hwy 117 when Murray lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Murray overcorrected her vehicle, reentered LA Hwy 117, and exited the left side before colliding with several trees.

Murray was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 28 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 31 fatalities.
