| TROOP A NEWS RELEASE March 22, 2016 Motorcyclist Dies in Two Vehicle Crash in East Baton Rouge Parish Baton Rouge– Shortly before 7:00 pm on March 21, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA 3246 (Siegen Lane) north of Interstate 10 in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 29 year old Marc Williams of Baton Rouge, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Williams was operating his 2003 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Siegen Ln. At the same time, 22 year old Gladys Dedrick of Baton Rouge, LA was traveling northbound on Siegen Ln. in a 2000 Honda Civic. Dedrick moved into the center turn lane and came to a stop preparing to make a left turn. As the southbound traffic came to a stop due to congestion, Dedrick began to make a left turn between the stopped vehicles. Williams’ motorcycle struck the right side of Dedrick’s vehicle as she was crossing the right southbound lane and ejected Williams from his motorcycle. Williams suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. Dedrick was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers for analysis. In 2015, motorcyclists were involved in 1,951 crashes across the state resulting in 80 fatalities. Louisiana State Troopers would like to encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course.
