Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Lena, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 4:30 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 8 near I-49. The crash involved a 2000 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Joseph Floyd Lodridge (W/M 37 yrs). The Chevrolet was west bound on LA Hwy 8 when Lodridge lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Lodridge overcorrected his vehicle and reentered LA Hwy 8 before it began overturning.

Lodridge was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 32 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 35 fatalities.
