News Release – Troop E June 17, 2012 Alcohol suspected in Natchitoches Parish serious injury crash On June 17, 2012, at about 1:00 a.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 1 in the community of Cloutierville in Natchitoches Parish that sent two people to the hospital. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Explorer was northbound on La. Highway 1 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to negotiate a slight curve to the left. The vehicle exited the roadway and traveled upon the shoulder when the driver, 56-year-old Donald Robinson of Natchez, La., overcorrected to the left and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then overturned several times. Robinson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported by air ambulance to LSU-Shreveport Hospital with critical injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 50-year-old Katherine Moses of Natchez, La., sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to LSU-Shreveport Hospital. Moses was wearing her seat belt. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash and a toxicology sample was obtained for analysis. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. Alcohol and/or drug use can affect motor control by distorting one’s judgment of motion, form, and distance. It can also affect reflexes and slow reaction time. Plan ahead and designate a sober driver before traveling to a destination where alcohol will be consumed. To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial *LSP (*577) from their cellular phone or to contact their local law enforcement agency. Contact Information Sgt.
