Catahoula Parish Fatal Crash Earlier tonight, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Pineville, LA and seriously injured a teenager from Aimwell, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 7:50 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 8 in Catahoula Parish. The crash involved a 1989 Ford Mustang, driven by Leslie G. Cotton (W/M 50 yrs) and a 1996 Nissan pickup, driven by Kalub L. Holley (W/M 18 yrs). The Ford was west bound on LA Hwy 8 when Cotton lost control and crossed the centerline. After crossing the centerline, the Ford collided with the east bound Nissan.
Cotton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Holley received serious injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Seatbelt use is unknown, at this time, due to the extent of damage.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, seatbelts can greatly decrease the occupant’s chance of death and will greatly reduce the extent of injury.
Troop E troopers have investigated 38 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 42 fatalities.
