Early this morning, a crash involving an ATV killed a man from Ferriday, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 5:50 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 568 in Concordia Parish. The crash involved a 2002 Honda ATV, driven by Matthew Louis Evans (W/M 24 yrs). The Honda was east bound on LA Hwy 568 when Evans lost control and collided with a large brick mailbox.

Evans was not wearing a helmet and was ejected. He was transported to Riverland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

The public is reminded that it is dangerous and illegal to operate off-road vehicles (i.e. three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other all-terrain vehicles) on any public roadway in this state.

Troop E troopers have investigated 29 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 32 fatalities.
