TROOP E - NEWS RELEASE
May 17, 2012
Winn Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Saint Maurice, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 1:45 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 477 north of US Hwy 71. The crash involved a 1997 Mercury van, driven by Clarence Henry County (B/M 27 yrs). The Mercury was south bound on LA Hwy 477 when County lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle reentered LA Hwy 477 before exiting the left side and colliding with a tree.
County was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E troopers have investigated 26 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 28 fatalities.
