Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Clayton, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 10:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 900 in Concordia Parish. The crash involved a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven by Bennie Griffin (B/M 36 yrs). The vehicle was east bound on LA Hwy 900 when Griffin lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle entered a ditch and collided with a culvert before overturning.

Griffin was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 21 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 23 fatalities.
