Juvenile Killed In Catahoula Parish Crash Yesterday afternoon, a single vehicle crash killed a teenager from Jonesville, LA.
Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 923 in Catahoula Parish. The crash involved a 2007 Dodge pickup, driven by a juvenile (W/M 17 yrs) of Jonesville. The Dodge was south bound on LA Hwy 923, at an apparent high rate of speed, passing two vehicles. As the vehicle reentered the south bound lane, the juvenile lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Dodge entered a ditch and collided with a culvert, before overturning.
The juvenile driver was not wearing his seatbelt and received minor injuries. He was transported to LaSalle General. His only passenger, identified as Weston C. Brown (W/M 15 yrs), was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected. He was pronounced dead.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”
Troop E troopers have investigated 22 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 24 fatalities.
