Yesterday afternoon, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Pineville, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 123 in Grant Parish. The crash involved a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by Joshua Paul Martinez (W/M 24 yrs). The Yamaha was east bound on LA Hwy 123 when Martinez lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the motorcycle collided with two small trees.

Martinez was ejected from the motorcycle and was later pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask you to take one second to “buckle up!”

Troop E troopers have investigated 25 fatal crashes in 2012, resulting in 27 fatalities.
