Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 12, 2010 Teen Killed In LaSalle Parish Crash Early this morning, a single vehicle crash killed a teen from Trout, LA and injured two others. Troopers responded to the crash around 12:30 am, which occurred on LA Hwy 500 near US Hwy 84. The crash involved a 2004 Dodge pickup, driven by Justin W. Cooper (W/M 21 yrs) of Jena, LA. The Dodge was west bound on LA Hwy 500 when Cooper attempted to pass another west bound vehicle. Cooper lost control and exited the left side of the roadway before overcorrecting and exiting the right side. After exiting the right side of the roadway, the vehicle began overturning, ejecting all three occupants. Cooper was not wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. He was transported to Hartner Medical Center. Tiffany B. Wishum (W/F 18 yrs) of Trout, LA and Logan G. Stringer (W/M 18 yrs) of Trout, LA were passengers in Cooper’s vehicle. Stringer was not wearing his seatbelt and received moderate injuries. . He was transported to Hartner Medical Center. Wishum was not wearing her seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests and charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 39 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 45 fatalities.
