Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 8, 2010 Teen Killed In Rapides Parish Crash Last night, a crash involving a single vehicle killed a teen from Deville, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 9:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 115 south of LA Hwy 1207. The crash involved a 1991 Chevrolet van, driven by Newton M. Hooper II (W/M 18 yrs). The Chevrolet was north bound on LA Hwy 115 when Hooper II lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Chevrolet reentered LA Hwy 115 before exiting it a second time. The Chevrolet then began overturning before colliding with a tree. Hooper II was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 38 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 44 fatalities.
