Motorcyclist Killed In Winn Parish Crash

On Thursday, October 30, 2008, at 5:40 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one motorcycle. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 127, milepost 50.0, in Winn Parish.

The crash involved a 2009 Harley Davidson, driven by Mr. Michael W. Womack (W/M 57 yrs) of Sikes, LA. The Harley was north bound on LA Hwy 127 when Mr. Womack lost control. This action caused the Harley to overturn on the roadway, which resulted in Mr. Womack being ejected from the motorcycle.

Mr. Womack was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.

Winn Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 52 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 57 fatalities. Nine of the 52 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and five have involved a motorcycle. Twenty-six of the 33 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Nine fatal victims were restrained.
