Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: November 2, 2008 Three Teenagers Dead & Two Injured In Vernon Parish Crash On Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 7:45 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 111, milepost 18.0, in Vernon Parish. The crash involved a 1998 Ford pickup, driven by Mr. Gary M. Goodlow (W/M 19 yrs) of Anacoco, LA. The Ford was south bound on LA Hwy 111 when Mr. Goodlow lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Ford collided with a tree. Mr. Goodlow was pronounced dead and alcohol usage is suspected. Routine toxicology tests are pending. There were four other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. They are as follows: Mr. Derrick E. Nolen (19 yrs) of Evans, LA, Ms. Alicia N. Ferrell (19 yrs) of DeRidder, LA, Ms. Robin Louviere (15 yrs) of Simpson, LA, and an unnamed juvenile (15 yrs) of Leesville, LA. Mr. Nolen and Ms. Louviere were pronounced dead. The unnamed juvenile received serious injuries and Ms. Ferrell received moderate injuries. The driver and all four passengers were not wearing their seatbelts. Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 53 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 60 fatalities. Nine of the 53 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and five have involved a motorcycle. Twenty-seven of the 34 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Nine fatal victims were restrained.
