Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: October 1, 2008 Troop E Receives New Commander On Monday, September 29, 2008, Colonel Michael Edmonson promoted Kenneth Moore to the rank of Louisiana State Police Captain. Prior to his appointment, Captain Moore held the rank of Lieutenant. Troop E is headquartered in Alexandria, LA and encompasses/serves 10 parishes (Winn, LaSalle, Grant, Sabine, Vernon, Rapides, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, and Natchitoches). He began his law enforcement career in 1981 with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office. In 1982, he was hired as a Louisiana State Police Trooper at Troop H (Leesville, LA). When Troop H was dissolved, Captain Moore was transferred to Troop E as a Uniform Trooper. In 1989, he transferred to the Louisiana State Police Narcotics Section. While in this section, he was promoted twice. In 1995, he obtained the rank of Sergeant and in 1998 obtained the rank of Lieutenant. While holding the rank of Lieutenant, prior to April 21, 2008, he served as the supervisor of the Narcotics Section for the entire north portion of our state. After April 21, 2008, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations was restructured and at this time forward, he served as the Region II Criminal Investigations Supervisor for the Alexandria area. He supervised the Detectives Section, Narcotics Section, and the Insurance Fraud Unit. Captain Moore has attended and completed the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) Drug Unit Commander’s Academy along with numerous other management and law enforcement related schools/classes. Captain Moore has been married for 32 years to Mrs. Debbie Moore and they are proud residents of Vernon Parish. They have two sons and two grandsons. One of their sons (Bill Moore) is a Trooper in the Alexandria area and their other son (Brandon Moore) is a Pharmacist in the Alexandria area. Captain Moore is proud and honored to serve as Troop E’s new Commander and is looking forward to maintaining Louisiana State Police’s high level of professionalism and integrity. He brings with him 27 plus years of law enforcement experience (19 years of criminal investigations experience). He is also looking forward to working with and providing support to our public safety partners at the local and federal level. The citizens/public will continue to receive the highest level of services that they have become accustomed to in the Troop E area including community involvement. Captain Moore stated, “As we unite together as a community we are more effective in accomplishing our goals”. Captain Moore will work hand in hand with the Troopers under his command to aggressively enforce and arrest impaired drivers and take appropriate action against aggressive drivers. Captain Moore also stated, “One of my major goals as Troop E’s Commander is to use every possible resource available to make our roadways a safer place for our families to drive”.
