Unrestrained Driver Dies In Grant Parish Crash

On Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at 7:30 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving two vehicles. The crash occurred on US 165, milepost 97, in Grant Parish.

The crash involved a 2001 Lincoln Town Car, driven by Mr. Dan Q. Rosier (W/M 72 yrs) of Pollock, LA and an unoccupied 18 wheeler. Note: The 18 wheeler was parked parallel to US 165 in a private driveway. The Lincoln was north bound on US 165 when Mr. Rosier lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Lincoln traveled through a ditch before impacting the rear portion of the 18 wheeler.

Mr. Rosier was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.

Grant Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 39 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 43 fatalities. Six of the 39 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and two have involved a motorcycle. Twenty-one of the 26 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Six fatal victims were restrained.
