Pedestrian Killed In Rapides Parish Crash

On Monday, September 29, 2008, at 11:04 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle and one pedestrian. The crash occurred on Todd Hollingsworth Road in Rapides Parish.

The crash involved a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Mr. Trevin G. Terrell (W/M 19 yrs) of Colfax, LA and a pedestrian, identified as Mr. Donnie D. Carlton (W/M 50 yrs) of Pineville, LA. Mr. Terrell was west bound on Todd Hollingsworth Road when his vehicle collided with Mr. Carlton. Mr. Carlton was standing in the west bound lane at the time of the collision.

Mr. Terrell was not injured in the crash.

Mr. Carlton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

Routine toxicology tests are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 46 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 51 fatalities. Eight of the 46 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and three have involved a motorcycle. Twenty-four of the 30 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Eight fatal victims were restrained.
