Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 10, 2009 Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Last night a Pollock man was killed when a truck struck the motorcycle he was riding. Troopers from Troop E responded to the fatal crash around 8:00 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 165 south of Pollock, LA. The crash involved a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by William G. Lemmons ( W/M 51 yrs) of Pollock, LA and a 1997 GMC pickup, driven by Benjamin D. Edwards (W/M 19 yrs) of West Monroe, LA. Initially, the Yamaha was positioned in the median crossover and facing west and the GMC was south bound on US Hwy 165 in the outside lane. As the Yamaha attempted to cross the south bound lanes, the GMC collided with it. Lemmons was pronounced dead at the scene and was wearing a helmet. Edwards and his passenger, identified as Micheal J. Landry (19 yrs) of West Monroe, were not injured. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated four fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in five fatalities. One of the three fatal crashes has involved an unrestrained motorist. One crash has involved a motorcycle.
