| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 22, 2009 Continuing Efforts Of Operation “Child Watch” Law enforcement agencies around the state continue to unite in our fight against child predators. This week the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria, Shreveport, and Monroe Field Offices continued to make progress in reference to this ongoing campaign labeled Operation “Child Watch”. The mission of Operation “Child Watch” was/is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators who prey on the innocence of a child. “These are atrocious crimes that threaten the most innocent of victims, our children,” said Colonel Mike Edmonson. “The State Police stands firm with proactive efforts deploying every available resource to intercept and arrest those who choose to engage in this type of illegal activity. Louisiana law enforcement will continue to unite in this task of eradicating these types of crimes from our community. I, as a parent of four, would like to take this opportunity to remind parents to be a constant part of your child’s life. If you choose not to be then someone else will and you may not be able to pick your replacement.” There were a total of nine arrests and eighteen search warrants served. These criminal cases are ongoing and more arrests are likely. Some of the items seized included computers, external hard drives, and CD/DVDs.
