Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: November 15, 2008 Fatal Crash In Avoyelles Parish/Alcohol & No Seatbelt Factors On Friday, November 14, 2008, at 10:35 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 107, milepost 21.9, in Avoyelles Parish. The crash involved a 2004 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Mr. Luke M. Gremillion (W/M 22 yrs) of Plaucheville, LA. The Chevrolet was north bound on LA Hwy 107 when Mr. Gremillion lost control of his vehicle and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle collided with a tree. Mr. Gremillion was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Alcohol usage is suspected. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Avoyelles Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 56 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 63 fatalities. Nine of the 56 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Five fatal crashes have involved an ATV and five have involved a motorcycle. Thirty of the 37 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Nine fatal victims were restrained.
