Unrestrained Donaldsonville Woman Killed in Single Vehicle Crash
Iberville Parish- Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single vehicle crash on LA Highway south of White Castle that has claimed the life of 39 year old Latisha Johnson of Donaldsonville.

This morning, shortly before 7:20 am., Latisha Johnson was driving a 2007 Infiniti G35 northbound on LA 1. For reasons still under investigation, Johnson traveled off of the right side of the roadway and entered a shallow ditch. Johnson’s vehicle crossed a private driveway, struck a mound of topsoil, and became airborne. The vehicle crossed a canal and landed on its roof, coming to rest against a large concrete block.

Johnson was not wearing a seat belt and sustained critical injuries. Johnson was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology samples have been obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.

Lack of seat belt use continues to be a leading factor in fatal crashes throughout Louisiana. Wearing a seat belt properly can greatly reduce a person’s risk of injury in most crashes. Seat belts allow crash forces to be spread across a large area of the body allowing a person to ride down the crash. Unrestrained persons are at a greater risk of sustaining severe or fatal injuries in a crash than a person who is restrained. Buckle up every time in every seating position. Not only is it the law, but it’s the best way to survive a crash.
