| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Date: March 7, 2008 Unrestrained Leesville Man Dies In Crash On Friday, March 07, 2008, at 6:32 am, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on US 171, milepost 72.9, in Vernon Parish. This location is north of LA Hwy 8. The crash involved a 1993 Cadillac Seville, driven by Mr. Patrick W. Williford (W/M 22 yrs) of Leesville, LA. The Cadillac was south bound on US 171 when Mr. Williford ran off the right side of the roadway. After the vehicle ran off the roadway it began overturning and collided with several trees. The vehicle traveled approximately 400 feet before coming to final rest. Mr. Williford was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Troop E Troopers have investigated a total of 10 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 10 fatalities. Two of the 10 fatalities have involved pedestrians. Seven of the eight fatal crashes (vehicle only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants.
