| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Date: January 19, 2008 Teenager Dies In Crash Near State Line On Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 1:02 am, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 8, milepost 8.2, in Vernon Parish. The crash involved a 1999 Chevrolet, driven by Mr. Joseph W. Brittain (W/M 18 yrs) of Anacoco, LA. The vehicle was west bound on LA Hwy 8 when Mr. Brittain lost control and ran off the left side of the roadway. After the vehicle exited the roadway it began to overturn and struck a tree. This action caused the unrestrained driver to be partially ejected. When the vehicle came to rest Mr. Brittain was pinned between the roof and the ground. Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death to Mr. Brittain. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor with regards to this crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. A juvenile in the vehicle received only minor injuries. Troop E Troopers have investigated a total of 2 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 2 fatalities.
