| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE News Release Date: March 3, 2008 Results Of Insurance Checkpoint In Rapides Parish On Monday, March 03, 2008, Louisiana State Police Troop E & Alexandria Police Department conducted an insurance checkpoint between the hours of 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The checkpoint was conducted on LA Hwy 1, milepost 268, in Rapides Parish. This location is south of Alexandria. During the checkpoint four motorists were cited for insurance violations and four license plates were seized. Officers also issued five non-moving violations. This insurance checkpoint was conducted to encourage compliance with the state’s compulsory insurance law. Our goal is to greatly reduce the number of people driving without insurance and to remove uninsured vehicles off the road. State law requires that proof of valid insurance be carried in the vehicle at all times. Troop E will be conducting numerous checkpoints (i.e. seatbelt checkpoints, insurance checkpoints, and DWI checkpoints) throughout the year. Motorist should expect aggressive enforcement in these areas of interest.
