Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: June 28, 2008 Crash In Natchitoches Parish Kills A Pedestrian On Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 1:51 am, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle and a pedestrian. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 6, milepost 53.0, in Natchitoches Parish. The crash involved a 2001 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Mr. Joseph C. Peltier Jr. (W/M 54 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA and a pedestrian, identified as Mr. Ronald D. Wylie (B/M 35 yrs) of Natchitoches, LA. Mr. Peltier Jr. was west bound on LA Hwy 6 when his vehicle collided with Mr. Wylie. Mr. Wylie was walking in the roadway at the time of the collision. Mr. Wylie was pronounced dead at the scene. Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Mr. Peltier Jr. was not injured. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 31 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 35 fatalities. Five of the 31 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Four fatal crashes have involved an ATV and two have involved a motorcycle. Fifteen of the 20 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Six fatal victims were restrained.
