Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: July 20, 2008 Unrestrained Driver Dies In Grant Parish Crash On Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 8:38 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a fatal crash involving one vehicle. The crash occurred on US 165, milepost 95.7, in Grant Parish. The crash involved a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by Ms. Kimberly N. Thompson (W/F 28 yrs) of Pollock, LA. The Chevrolet was north bound on US 165 when Ms. Thompson lost control and exited the roadway into the median. Ms. Thompson then reentered the roadway and overcorrected. This action caused the Chevrolet to overturn. Ms. Thompson was ejected from her vehicle during the crash. She was not wearing her seatbelt. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center and was later pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Grant Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 35 fatal crashes for the year of 2008, resulting in 39 fatalities. Six of the 35 fatal crashes have involved pedestrians. Four fatal crashes have involved an ATV and two have involved a motorcycle. Eighteen of the 23 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Six fatal victims were restrained.
