Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: June 6, 2008 Many, LA Women Seriously Injured In ATV Crash On Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 9:20 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a serious injury crash involving a passenger vehicle and an ATV. The crash occurred on LA Hwy 6, milepost 23.9, in Sabine Parish. The crash involved a 2008 Kawasaki ATV (four-wheeler), driven by Mr. Rusty D. Ferguson (W/M 24 yrs) of Many, LA and a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Ms. Jessica M. Byles (W/F 20 yrs) of Hornbeck, LA. The ATV was south bound on Snider Road when Mr. Ferguson failed to yield upon entering LA Hwy 6. While attempting to cross LA Hwy 6 the ATV was struck by the Chevrolet, which was west bound on LA Hwy 6. Mr. Ferguson and his passenger, Mrs. Davlynn M. Ferguson (23 yrs) of Many, LA, were ejected from the ATV. Neither was wearing a helmet. Mr. Ferguson received minor injuries, but refused medical aid. Mrs. Ferguson received serious injuries and was transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. Ms. Byles received moderate injuries and was transported to Sabine Medical Center. Mr. Ferguson was cited for Unsafe Vehicle and Failure To Yield. Routine toxicology tests are pending. *The public is reminded that it is dangerous and illegal to operate off-road vehicles (i.e. three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other all-terrain vehicles) on any public roadway in this state.
