Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: February 20, 2010 Rapides Parish Fatal Crash Late last night, a single vehicle crash killed a young man from Forest Hill, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 1199 near Twin Bridges Road. The crash involved a 2001 Ford pickup, driven by Joshua D. Willis (W/M 25 yrs). The Ford was south bound on LA Hwy 1199 when Willis lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Ford collided with two private driveways, overturned several times, and collided with a cattle gap. Willis was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as Derek D. Decuire (24 yrs) of Melder, LA, was not injured. Alcohol usage and excessive speed are suspected factors in the crash. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated eleven fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in thirteen fatalities.
