Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: March 23, 2010 Impairment Suspected in Deadly Crash A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Natchitoches Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop E Troopers investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash on March 22, 2010 at about 11:14 pm. The investigation revealed that a 1996 Ford F-250 was traveling north on LA 1, near mile post 315.6, when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound 1999 Chevrolet SUV head-on. The driver of the Ford, identified as 27-year-old James Travis Jones from Natchitoches, was taken the Natchitoches Parish Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 33-year-old Dynise Colbert from Natchitoches, received minor injuries in the crash. Three juvenile passengers in the Chevrolet (ages: 11, 13, and 8) received minor to moderate injuries in the crash. They were all taken the Natchitoches Parish Hospital for treatment. The front seat passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as 59-year-old Kona L. Richards from Many, LA, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Ford, James Jones, was arrested for Vehicular Homicide, four counts of Negligent Injuring, DWI 4th, Open Container, No Seat Belt, and Driving Under Suspension. Jones was booked at the Natchitoches Parish Correctional Center. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated sixteen fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in eighteen fatalities.
