Unrestrained Driver Seriously Injured in Sabine Parish Crash

A driver was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash in Sabine Parish this morning.

Louisiana State Police Troop E Troopers investigated the crash this morning at about 6:46 am. A 2004 GMC Yukon was traveling south on LA 175 (mile post 8.4) when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. The GMC then struck a ditch culvert and began to overturn. While in the air, the GMC stuck a tree in the area of the passenger side roof of the vehicle.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old James Stewart from Many, LA, was transported to the LSU Shreveport hospital by Med Express Ambulance with critical injuries. Stewart was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is unknown, but routine toxicology tests are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
