Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: January 4, 2010 Head-On Collision Kills Both Drivers Earlier today, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man and a woman in Winn Parish. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:50 pm, which occurred on US Hwy 167 near the Winn/Jackson Parish line. The crash involved a 2000 Mack (18 wheeler), driven by Richard L. Perkins (W/M 52 yrs) of Jonesboro, LA and a 2002 Nissan Sentra, driven by Carolyn T. Wilson (B/F 59 yrs) of Winnfield, LA. The Mack was north bound on US Hwy 167 when Perkins crossed the centerline and collided with the south bound Nissan. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway. Perkins was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Wilson was wearing her seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. This is the first fatal crash that Troop E Troopers have investigated for the year of 2010.
