Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: June 6, 2010 Forest Hill Resident Killed In Crash Last night, a single vehicle crashed killed a young man from Forest Hill, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:15 pm, which occurred on Chickamaw Road off LA Hwy 112, in Rapides Parish. The crash involved a 1993 Honda Accord, driven by Elias Moreno (O/M 22 yrs). The Honda was west bound on LA Hwy 112 when Moreno failed to stop at a Lecompte Police Department Sobriety Checkpoint. After proceeding through the checkpoint, Moreno turned onto Chickamaw Road. Lecompte Police Department was in pursuit of the Honda when Moreno lost control and exited the left side of the roadway before colliding with a tree. Moreno was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 30 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 35 fatalities.
