| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 1, 2010 Winn Parish Fatal Crash Earlier this evening, a single vehicle crash killed a man and injured a woman. Troopers responded to the crash around 6:10 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 34 east of Wheeling. The crash involved a 2008 Ford pickup, driven by Steven E. Lang (W/M 55 yrs) of Atlanta, LA. The Ford was west bound on LA Hwy 34 when the left front tire failed. The vehicle then exited the left side of the roadway before colliding with several trees and overturning. Lang was not wearing his seatbelt and was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead. His only passenger, identified as Teresa H. Lang (W/F 42 yrs) of Atlanta, LA, received moderate injuries and was transported to Natchitoches Parish Hospital. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 36 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 42 fatalities.
