Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: August 6, 2010 Natchitoches Parish Fatal Crash Yesterday afternoon, a man from Lake Charles died on I-49. Troopers responded to the crash around 2:00 pm, which occurred on I-49 south of LA Hwy 174, which is north of the Natchitoches, LA exit. The crash involved a 2003 Ford pickup, driven by Paul Reggie (W/M 47 yrs). The Ford was south bound on I-49 when Reggie lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle continued through the median and crossed both north bound lanes before colliding with a ditch, which resulted in minor damage. Reggie was wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. The crash may have resulted because of a possible medical condition. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E troopers have investigated 37 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 43 fatalities.
