Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 28, 2010 Young Child Killed In Grant Parish Crash Earlier this morning, a crash involving two vehicles killed a child and injured the mother. Troopers responded to the crash around 10:00 am, which occurred on US Hwy 165 north of Pollock, LA. The crash involved a 2000 Ford pickup, driven by Tonya L. Coleman (W/F 36 yrs) of Pollock, LA and a 2001 Mack (garbage truck), driven by Troy L Jones II (W/M 28 yrs) of Dry Prong, LA. The Ford was north bound on US Hwy 165 when it collided with the rear of the Mack. Prior to the collision, the Mack was slowing to turn right onto Antonio Hills Road. Coleman was not wearing her seatbelt and received moderate injuries. She was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Her only passenger, identified as Justace Coleman (W/F 6 yrs) of Pollock, was pronounced dead. She was not properly restrained. Jones II was not injured. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 28 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 33 fatalities.
