Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: April 15, 2010 Rapides Parish Fatal Crash Last night, a single vehicle crash killed a Baton Rouge woman and injured another. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:20 pm, which occurred I-49 south of Alexandria. The crash involved a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by Mashanon M. Davis (B/F 40 yrs). The Mercury was north bound on I-49 when Davis lost control and exited the roadway into the median. Davis then overcorrected her vehicle, reentered I-49, and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the right side, the vehicle began overturning. Davis was wearing her seatbelt, but was pronounced dead. Her only passenger, identified as Coronia L. Banks (B/F 38 yrs) of Baton Rouge, received moderate injuries and was transported to Cabrini Hospital. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 20 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 22 fatalities.
