Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 2, 2010 Three Killed In Rapides Parish Crash Yesterday afternoon, a crash involving two vehicles killed three from Alexandria. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 3170 east of US Hwy 71. The crash involved a 1995 Mercury Tracer, driven by Cheryl C. Guidroz (W/F 39 yrs) and a 1995 Freightliner, driven by Preston J. Stelly (W/M 42 yrs) of Schriever, LA. The Mercury was west bound on LA Hwy 3170 when Guidroz crossed the centerline and collided with the east bound Freightliner. Guidroz was pronounced dead. Her only two passengers, identified as Elias J. Guidroz Jr. (W/M 24 yrs) and a toddler (W/M 2 yrs), also received fatal injuries and were pronounced dead. At this time it is unknown if any of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts. Stelly received minor injuries and was transported to Rapides General Hospital. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 24 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 29 fatalities.
