Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 16, 2010 Motorcyclist Killed In Concordia Parish Crash Earlier this evening, a crash involving two vehicles killed a man from Ferriday, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:30 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 568 at LA Hwy 900. The crash involved a 1991 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Joseph L. Drummer (W/M 31 yrs) of Clayton, LA and a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by John T. Mott Jr. (W/M 41 yrs) of Ferriday, LA. The Chevrolet was east bound on LA Hwy 568 when Drummer attempted to turn left onto LA Hwy 900. This action resulted in the Chevrolet colliding with the west bound Harley Davidson. Drummer was not injured in the crash. His only passenger, Shawn McCarty (W/M 32 yrs) of Vidalia, LA, was not injured. Mott Jr. was wearing a motorcycle helmet, but was pronounced dead. He was a Deputy with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Drummer was charged with Vehicular Homicide, DWI 3rd, Improper Left Turn, Driving Under Suspension, Open Container, and Possession of Marijuana. He was booked in the Concordia Parish Jail. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 25 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 30 fatalities.
