Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 17, 2010 Teen Killed In Vernon Parish Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a teen from Pitkin, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 4:20 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 463 south of LA Hwy 121. The crash involved a 2003 Dodge pickup, driven by Brandon J. Thompson (W/M 16 yrs). The Dodge was north bound on LA Hwy 463 when Thompson lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Thompson overcorrected his vehicle and reentered the roadway. As the vehicle reentered the roadway, it began overturning. Thompson was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 26 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 31 fatalities.
