Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: May 23, 2010 Avoyelles Parish Fatal Crash Earlier today, a single vehicle crash killed a man from Moreauville, LA and injured a young boy. Troopers responded to the crash around 1:30 pm, which occurred on Old River Lane off LA Hwy 451. The crash involved a 1993 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Joe J. Lemoine (W/M 35 yrs). The Jeep was west bound on Old River Lane when Lemoine lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, Lemoine overcorrected, exited the left side, and collided with a ditch embankment before overturning. Lemoine was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A child (6 yrs) was also ejected, but only received minor injuries. He was transported to Avoyelles Hospital. Alcohol usage is suspected. Toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Troop E Troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 32 fatalities.
