Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: November 22, 2009 Grant Parish Fatal Crash Early this morning, a crash involving one vehicle killed a man from Montgomery, LA. Troopers responded to the crash around 7:00 am, which occurred on US Hwy 71 at Richardson Road. The crash involved a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Henry L. Davis (B/M 67 yrs). The Pontiac was north bound on US Hwy 71 when Davis lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then reentered the roadway and Davis overcorrected it as he approached the centerline. The vehicle then exited the right side of the roadway again and collided with a tree. Davis was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation. Routine toxicology tests are pending. Troop E Troopers have investigated 67 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 81 fatalities. Forty-three of the 56 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. It is unknown if the deceased was wearing a seatbelt in one crash. Six crashes have involved a motorcycle, three have involved a pedestrian, and two have involved an off road vehicle.
