Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: June 29, 2009 ATV Crash Seriously Injures Teenager Earlier today, an ATV crash seriously injured a teenager from Boyce and left a twelve- year-old with minor injuries. Troopers responded to the crash around 3:30 pm, which occurred on River Road near Rapides Station. The crash involved a 1997 Yamaha ATV (4-wheeler), driven by Thomas Woodard (B/M 18 yrs) of Boyce, LA. The Yamaha was west bound on River Road when Woodard lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Yamaha collided with several trees. Woodard suffered severe injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. His only passenger was a twelve-year-old female. She suffered minor injuries. Neither Woodard nor his passenger was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.
