Edmonson, Superintendent News Release Date: April 1, 2009 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Natchitoches Parish Crash A Robeline man has dies in a one vehicle crash in Natchitoches Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop E Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at about 8:59 am on LA 504 (mile post 1.4) in Natchitoches Parish. A 1998 Chevrolet truck was traveling east on LA 504 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road. After leaving the highway, the truck traveled through a wooden fence and struck a tree. The driver, identified as 46 year old Patrick W. O'Brien from Robeline, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner's Office. O'Brien was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol use is unknown and routine toxicology tests are pending. Troop E Troopers have investigated 15 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 17 fatalities. Nine of the 12 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Two crashes have involved a motorcycle and one has involved a pedestrian.
