Marksville Man Killed In Crash

A crash, which occurred early yesterday evening, has left one man dead and three injured. The crash occurred in Avoyelles Parish, north of Marksville, LA.

Troopers responded to the crash around 7:00 pm, which occurred on LA Hwy 107. The crash involved a 1999 Toyota Corolla, driven by Corey J. Dauzat (W/M 24 yrs) of Marksville, LA and a 2005 Jeep Liberty, driven by Joshua J. Reynaud (W/M 27 yrs) of Marksville, LA. The Toyota was north bound on LA Hwy 107 when Dauzat lost control and exited the right side of the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the vehicle reentered it and collided with the Jeep, which was south bound on LA Hwy 107.

Dauzat was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead.

Reynaud was wearing his seatbelt and only received minor injuries. He was transported to Avoyelles Hospital for treatment. His only two passengers, identified as Nicole Reynaud (33 yrs) of Marksville, LA and a juvenile (2 yrs) of Marksville, LA received minor injuries. Nicole Reynaud was transported to Cabrini Hospital for treatment and the juvenile was transported to Avoyelles Hospital for treatment. Both passengers were properly restrained.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.

Troop E Troopers have investigated 21 fatal crashes for the year of 2009, resulting in 23 fatalities. Twelve of the 17 fatal crashes (passenger vehicles only) have involved unrestrained motorists/occupants. Two crashes have involved a motorcycle and two have involved a pedestrian.
